Admissions FAQ

Tours are typically offered weekday mornings during the academic year. We find that morning tours provide the optimal experience for prospective families to witness children in action and a wide variety of our programs. Tours are by appointment only.

Our small group tours are typically an hour +15 minutes long, as we visit each of the five floors of our campus. We highly recommend that you come to the tour without children under the age of 7, if possible. You may also want to peruse our website prior to your visit, as it provides a helpful foundation for what you will see and experience on the tour.
 

Student placement in a program/grade is determined by eligibility and the child’s age on September 1st of the enrollment year:*

Preschool:
Baby Nido: 3 Months
Nido: 12 Months
Pre-K2: Age 2
Pre-K3: Age 3
Pre-K4: Age 4

Elementary:
Kindergarten: Age 5
1st Grade: Age 6
2nd Grade: Age 7
3rd Grade: Age 8
4th Grade: Age 9
5th Grade: Age 10

*We recognize that cut offs vary state/country. Please email admissions@klaacademy.org if you have any questions about program eligibility.

Ideally, families should complete an application the fall prior to the school year they would like to enroll (example: submit an application in the Fall 2025, to start Fall 2026). Our school year runs from mid-August to the first week of June.

Typically, our application is released in the Fall, and families will have until early in the new year (February) to complete the process during our Regular Admissions Cycle. Applying by the application deadline is recommended as we may reach capacity in certain grades/programs and then open a Wait Pool. Families who apply in the Regular Admissions Cycle will receive their notifications on March 1st.

You can also apply during our Early Admissions Cycle for the 2026-2027 school year. In this case, applications are due by November 14th and notifications are emailed on December 5th.

Our application fee is $100 per child and can be paid electronically online through the Parent Portal.

Supplemental materials can be uploaded directly through the Application Checklist in the Parent Portal, or can be emailed to admissions@klaacademy.org.

You can track the progress of your child's application through the application portal.

Applicants who apply (or complete their application) after February 13, 2026, will be moved to our Rolling Admissions Cycle, and will receive their notification within 10 business days from the completion of their application.

Baby Nido and Nido Applicants: There is no Observation Session required for students applying to our Baby Nido program. Since students applying to this class are under 1 year old, we require a virtual Family Meeting in lieu of bringing the applicant to campus.

PK2 and PK3 Applicants: The Music Playgroup is a 30 minute opportunity for one parent/guardian to bring their child to campus and participate in an interactive group music class.

PK4 Applicants: The Playgroup is a 30 minute opportunity for one parent/guardian to bring their child to campus and participate in an interactive group class. Students will have an opportunity to work with a teacher to cover some literacy, numeracy, phonics and more.

Kinder-5th Grade Applicants: During a Shadow Visit, students have the opportunity to participate in a range of class experiences, both academic and social. There is nothing for students to prepare in advance of their visit, we simply ask that they dress comfortably (wear sneakers and bring a sweatshirt/jacket) and bring a water bottle. 

The Family Meeting is an opportunity for families to virtually connect with a member of our Leadership Team (Interim Head of School or Enrollment Management Director and Associate Director) and ask any final questions they may have. Typically, this is a quick 15-minute meeting over Zoom for parents/guardians, and there is no need for the applicant to attend.

We have an Admissions Review Committee that meets to review all applicant files. The Committee takes a number of factors into consideration when making admissions decisions, including all admissions materials received to gain a full picture of applicants.
 

If a child is not accepted to KLA Academy, they are welcome to reapply for future academic years.

Those applicants who receive an offer of acceptance have a maximum of 10 business days to complete the enrollment process, including payment of Registration Fee, New Student Fee, and prorated tuition, when applicable, as well as submission of the signed Enrollment Contract.

If your child has been accepted and there is no space available in their program, you may choose to join our Wait Pool. 

Please note the Wait Pool pertains exclusively to the school year that the applicant applied to, not to future years. 

A Wait Pool differs from a Wait List. With a Wait Pool there is no predefined order when it comes to if/when a student will be offered a seat. If a space opens up, the students on the Wait Pool are reviewed to determine who is offered the spot based on a range of factors.

Families in our elementary program are welcome to apply for Financial Aid through FASTAid.

Prospective families should complete their admission and financial aid applications simultaneously. Both parents/guardians must complete a financial aid application. In case of divorce, each parent/household must complete the financial aid application and send in all required documents.

Prospective families whose admission and financial aid applications have been completed by February 13, 2026, will be notified of their award in the acceptance letter on February 27, 2026.

Please note that financial aid awards are towards tuition only (not fees) for each school year, and requires reapplying every year as families believe they continue to qualify.

Financial aid is first allocated to those who apply in the Regular Admissions Cycle. To ensure your financial aid application is considered, please make sure it is completed during the admissions application process.

At this time, KLA Academy does not issue F-1B student visas.

KLA Academy also does not require a student visa for international students.

A parentally placed private school student with a disability does not have an individual right to receive some or all of the special education and related services that the student would receive if enrolled in a public school under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), as amended.
