Discovery & Exploration

Preschoolers instinctively respond to music. For our babies, our interactive classes showcase delightful rhymes, lullabies, floor and lap games, action songs and dances that stimulate their natural response to music. Toddlers learn amusing songs, dances and musical activities that focus on singing and keeping a steady beat to enhance timing, coordination, listening and language skills. High-quality percussion instruments are used alongside stories and colorful props to capture their focus.

As preschoolers become more verbal, the repetition of activities and songs assists participation, language development and memory, improving coordination and timing. Solo singing is encouraged to develop listening, pitch-matching and language skills. Concepts such as high and low, loud and soft, up and down are taught in a game-like atmosphere. Children learn to express their feelings productively as their imagination and focus improve. Self-confidence grows with each class.

Musical Evolution

Elementary students feel the joy of creating and experiencing music by singing expressively, individually and as part of a group. They learn to sing an increasing number of songs from memory and with improved accuracy and pitch. Children learn the characteristics of the musical instrument families: string, woodwind, brass, percussion, and keyboard and learn to play a variety of instruments individually and as a group.

We introduce Musical Theory so students can explore the tools it offers to create their own musical compositions and listen to diverse musical genres. They research about the role of music in history, composers, and develop recognition of musical notation, as they learn to read and write simple to increasingly more complex rhythm patterns. In their elementary years, children finesse the artistic, cultural, scientific and mathematical foundations of music.
